Andrew Bartholomew is the Founder and Managing Partner of Fulcrum Venture Group, leveraging his extensive experience and networks in both national security and finance to drive innovation in the defense sector. He launched Fulcrum in 2024 to bridge the gap between private capital and entrepreneurs developing critical solutions to our nation’s most pressing security challenges.
Before founding Fulcrum, Andrew served as a Director at Fortress Investment Group, a leading alternative asset manager. In this role, he was responsible for sourcing, originating, and executing high-yield and distressed commercial real estate transactions. His previous experience includes working as an Analyst in Evercore’s Transportation and Infrastructure M&A Advisory practice, where he honed his skills in strategic financial advisory.
Andrew's career began with his service as an enlisted Infantryman in the United States Marine Corps. He deployed multiple times to Iraq and Afghanistan, gaining firsthand combat experience that helps inform his strategic approach to investment in defense technologies. This unique blend of frontline military experience and high-level financial expertise positions Andrew to identify and support transformative technologies in the defense and defense-adjacent sectors.
Andrew holds a B.A. in Political Science from Columbia University.
Rafaella is the Head of Capital Formation at Fulcrum Venture Group, where she plays a pivotal role in driving the firm's growth and strategic initiatives. She brings extensive prior experience from working with two emerging venture managers, where she was instrumental in fundraising efforts, developing tech stacks, deal sourcing, and screening. Her comprehensive approach has consistently added value to early-stage venture firms by building robust operating processes and evaluating high-potential investment opportunities.
Prior to her career in venture capital, Rafaella served as the US Director for Champagne Bollinger, leading their US strategy with notable success. Her leadership in the luxury goods sector provided her with deep insights into strategic market positioning and brand management.
Rafaella is a passionate advocate for increasing Latinx representation in venture capital. She previously served as co-President of Latina Venture Students, the first community dedicated to Latina students in the field. Rafaella holds an MBA from MIT Sloan and degrees in Economics and Sociology from Columbia University.
Mike Morrison is a seasoned leader and strategist with over a decade of experience in manned and unmanned aviation in the U.S. Navy, including five years in Special Operations as a robotics warfare specialist. He has a proven ability to translate frontline operational needs into innovative, actionable solutions developed during deployments across Asia, the Horn of Africa, and Europe. Mike managed high-stakes intelligence operations as a mission commander and team lead while fostering strong collaborations with diverse, multinational teams.
Before coming to FVG, Mike led a cutting-edge testing and development team of Special Operations Forces (SOF) operators, advancing next-generation unmanned aerial systems (UAS) technology. Most recently, his work focused on training and fabricating advanced unmanned surface vessels (USVs) and UAS platforms in partnership with allied nations, combining technical expertise with a mission-driven approach to innovation.
Currently pursuing his MBA at the UVA Darden School of Business, focusing on strategy and entrepreneurship, Mike is dedicated to tackling complex challenges at the intersection of innovation and leadership. His unique blend of hands-on operational experience and strategic vision positions him to drive meaningful impact at FVG as we identify and back transformational emerging technologies in the defense ecosystem.
Grant Wolf is a finance and strategy professional who comes to FVG with 5 years of management consulting and Fortune-500 corporate strategy expertise at Deloitte and Nordstrom. His experience spans advisory work on commercialization and go-to- market, finance and revenue strategy, capital allocation, logistics and purchasing, risk management, and business analytics for executives in retail, industrials, media & entertainment, energy, and aerospace.
Through his education, Grant has also served as a joint investment manager for public- equity and venture capital portions of the Southern Methodist University and UCLA Foundation endowments – sourcing deals, preparing professional investment analyses and research, and advocating for transactions to university Investment Committee leaders.
After spending two undergraduate summers interning for Northrop Grumman on the F-35 program, Grant kindled a passion for aviation and earned his private pilot’s license. He has family serving in the U.S. Air Force and feels deep personal conviction about the important intersection of equipping America’s warfighters to win and reinvigorating domestic industry.
Grant is currently completing his MBA at UCLA Anderson School of Management
emphasizing private capital and tech entrepreneurship, and holds B.B.A in Finance and
B.A. in Music degrees from Southern Methodist University.
Sam Stowers brings unparalleled expertise in organizing and executing government go-to-market (GTM) strategies for Fulcrum Venture Group's portfolio companies. In additional to his role as an Operating Partner as Fulcrum Venture Group, he currently serves as the Director of Product Development at Black Cape, a mission-driven startup developing advanced technologies for highly regulated industries.
In addition to his role at Black Cape, Sam holds principal positions at Five Forks and Sparrowhawk Partners, where he focuses on capital advisory, due diligence, and strategic initiatives. Throughout his career, Sam has led numerous technology and innovation efforts within and adjacent to government, blending his experiences as a Civil Servant, entrepreneur, and Soldier.
Sam has held strategic advisory roles across the national security technology ecosystem, including positions with Fairwater Labs, a leading defense technology accelerator, and DFL Technology, which achieved a successful acquisition in 2024.
During his tenure in government, Sam served at the Defense Digital Service, where he developed cutting-edge technology products to support risk analysis in overseas contingency operations, particularly during the conclusion of the Global War on Terrorism. Before this, Sam served as a Special Operations officer, culminating as the Director of Technical Operations for a Special Mission Unit. In this capacity, he deployed extensively and played a critical role in founding transformative initiatives like the Global Analytics Platform, which revolutionized the use of mission data for actionable decision-making, and the Counter-Proliferation Advanced Analytics Cell, which leveraged data analytics to combat the proliferation of Weapons of Mass Destruction.
Earlier in his career, Sam served as a Fellow and Legislative Aide to a member of the House Armed Services Committee, focusing on procurement reform, DOD auditability, and fostering small business and innovation programs.

Brandon Bodor is a seasoned leader at the nexus of government, defense, and innovation, bringing extensive expertise to Fulcrum Venture Group's portfolio companies as they navigate highly regulated markets. With a career spanning national security, entrepreneurship, and public service, Brandon excels in crafting and executing government go-to-market (GTM) strategies that drive success in complex environments.
Brandon leads global government and defense business development at Parker Hannifin Corporation, where he directs growth initiatives for a Fortune 250 company and the world’s 61st largest defense contractor. Previously, he was a core team member at Second Front Systems (2F), where he supported emerging national security technologies, and co-founded Five Forks, a strategic advisory firm.
As an entrepreneur, Brandon co-founded Bunker Labs, the first national incubator for veteran-led businesses, which became a transformative network for military entrepreneurs before being acquired by Syracuse University in 2024.
Brandon’s military service exemplifies his operational and strategic expertise. After graduating 20th in his class from West Point, he served in Iraq, Afghanistan, and Jordan with units including the 2nd Stryker Cavalry Regiment (2SCR), the 10th Mountain Division (10th MTN), and a Joint Special Operations Task Force (JSOTF). His accomplishments earned him recognition such as the USSOCOM Lambertsen Award for Operational Innovation. He currently serves as a lieutenant colonel in the U.S. Army Reserve, where he is Deputy Inspector General for a two-star command, overseeing compliance and best practices.
Brandon also played a leading role in groundbreaking initiatives, including a digital transformation effort within the JSOTF and the development of software applications and assessment tools at the Special Operations R&D unit. These roles honed his ability to integrate advanced technologies into mission-critical operations.
Brandon’s academic and civic contributions are equally impressive. He holds an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and is pursuing an M.S. in Systems Engineering at the Naval Postgraduate School, with plans to transition into a PhD program. A member of the Chicago Council on Global Affairs’ Emerging Leaders Class of 2021, Brandon has also co-founded and supported numerous programs promoting public service and innovation.
Brandon resides in Menlo Park, CA, with his wife and two sons.
Fred Havemeyer has 10 years of TMT investment, operational, and hands-on software development experience. Fred is presently working with and advising early-stage AI software startups after most recently serving as Head of AI & Software at Macquarie Capital. While at Macquarie, Fred ran the growth tech equity research platform with a focus on AI/ML technologies, led internal generative AI projects, and diligenced technology companies across verticals and the tech stack. Prior to Macquarie, Fred worked at enterprise no-code startup Unqork, managing application development projects for Fortune 500 financial services and insurance clients. Fred graduated from Columbia University in 2013 with a degree in Physics and spent his undergraduate summers working in tech or physics research including the LIGO project.
Brandon Karpf brings extensive experience in national security, cybersecurity, and business operations to his role at Fulcrum Venture Group. He started his career in the US Navy, serving as a Cryptologic Warfare Officer with leadership positions at the National Security Agency, US Cyber Command, and onboard USS Boxer.
After his military career, Brandon transitioned to the private sector, co-founding a cybersecurity startup and working as a Cybersecurity Consultant at KNC Strategic Services. He also held positions as an Adjunct Professor of Cyber Science and Electrical Engineering at the US Naval Academy and a Curriculum Developer at MIT.
Brandon's technology industry experience includes roles as a Research Engineer at MIT's Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory and a Data System Engineer at the National Reconnaissance Office. Currently, he is the General Manager, Vice President, and Executive Editor at N2K Networks and N2K CyberWire. In these roles, he leads sales, product development, marketing, strategic initiatives, and the distribution of market intelligence.
Brandon holds a Master of Science in Technology and Policy (Computer Science) from MIT and an Executive MBA from Georgetown University McDonough School of Business. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Robotics and Controls Engineering from the US Naval Academy, graduating 12th in his class. He is also a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) and a Project Management Professional (PMP).
Nick Hesselgrave is a Marine Infantry Veteran, former Management Consultant, and seasoned SaaS Sales Professional. With a successful track record across companies of all sizes, he brings vast sales experience to Fulcrum Venture Group.
As a Management Consultant at Oliver Wyman, Nick led engagements with Fortune 500 companies across diverse industries, equipping him to analyze complex business problems and frame effective solutions. In the sales domain, he has excelled in both startups and established companies, consistently achieving top performance and recognition.
Nick is available to work closely with our portfolio companies, helping them develop and execute early sales strategies. His consultative approach and process-driven philosophy ensure that early-stage companies can secure their first paying customers and build robust sales frameworks.
Nick holds a B.A. in Economics & Philosophy from Columbia University.
Chris Miller brings over three decades of leadership and national security expertise to Fulcrum Venture Group. As the former Acting Secretary of Defense, he managed the U.S. military’s $720 billion budget, leading over two million service members and civilian employees through a critical period in American history. His tenure included overseeing counterterrorism efforts and strategic initiatives to adapt the Department of Defense for competition with emerging global powers.
Chris served as the Senate-confirmed Director of the National Counterterrorism Center, where he was responsible for safeguarding the nation from terrorist threats. Prior to this role, he was the Special Assistant to the President for Counterterrorism and Transnational Threats, advising senior White House leadership on strategy and policy.
A retired Army Infantry and Special Forces officer, Chris planned and executed operations in Afghanistan and Iraq, alongside numerous other global deployments during his 27-year military career. His post-service work focuses on advancing innovation in national defense, including his current role as Chief Strategy Officer at DZYNE Technologies, a leader in autonomous systems and uncrewed aerial vehicles.
Chris holds degrees in History and National Security Studies, complemented by advanced training from the Naval War College and Army War College. His commitment to transforming national defense and advocating for service members is further detailed in his recent book, Soldier-Secretary: Warnings from the Battlefield & the Pentagon about America’s Most Dangerous Enemies.
Matthew Kuta is the President and Co-Founder of Voyager Space. He was also the founding Executive Director for Space for Humanity, a non-profit organization that has sent multiple diverse passengers into orbit on commercial space vehicles. Prior to Voyager Space, Matthew was a key member of the private equity investment team at Goldman Sachs in New York City. Matthew started his private sector career focusing on middle market private equity at Plexus Capital in Raleigh, North Carolina.
Matthew Kuta is also an accomplished leader with global operational experience. As a former military officer, he has led large multi-national teams in very high-stakes initiatives as an F-15E fighter pilot. He has been recognized for multiple professional accolades to include the Jabara Award, awarded to the top U.S. Air Force Academy alumni for contributions to aviation. He is also a recipient of the Distinguished Flying Cross, the highest medal solely for aviation in the U.S. military that can be awarded in combat.
Matthew holds a Bachelor of Science from the United States Air Force Academy and an MBA from Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business. He is on the Board of Directors of Voyager Space, the National Defense Industrial Association, the United States Air Force Academy Endowment, and Space for Humanity. He is also a Member for the Council on Foreign Relations. Matthew resides in Denver with his wife and two daughters.
Bill Spruill is an accomplished entrepreneur and executive with over 20 years of experience in building and scaling high-growth technology companies. He is the co-founder and former CEO of Global Data Consortium (GDC), where he led the company to significant success, forming over 50 enterprise channel relationships and generating more than $70 million in revenues. GDC was acquired by the London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG) in 2022.
Prior to GDC, Bill held leadership roles at DataFlux/SAS and AddressDoctor, where he drove substantial revenue growth and strategic partnerships. Bill is also an active investor, advising and investing in early-stage companies. His extensive experience includes mentoring over 50 companies and serving on the executive committees of the North Carolina Council for Entrepreneurial Development and Triangle Family Services. His family office, 2ndF, is deeply committed to helping grow Raleigh's venture ecosystem.
Bill attended Northrop University in Los Angeles and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. His vast network and strategic insights are invaluable to Fulcrum Venture Group, supporting deal sourcing, due diligence, and portfolio company growth.
Nicholas Mirisis is a seasoned Growth Executive with over 25 years of experience in building and scaling technology companies. He is currently the Chief Executive Officer & Board Director of HomeTown Ticketing, a hyper-growth Series-B SaaS company serving U.S. K-12 institutions with social media, communications, event management, fundraising and engagement solutions.
Previously, Nicholas was the Chief Revenue Officer & President/GM eCommerce at SamCart, where he drove the company's growth from $10M to $30M ARR in 24 months. He also held leadership roles at GoCanvas, doubling ARR to nearly $50M, and at Dude Solutions, where he helped scale the company from $1M to $100M in revenue.
